Let’s Have A Quick Chat About Mental Health | Mental Health Week

Thanks for joining me for this little chat at a time where it couldn’t be more appropriate! We are in the midst of Mental Health Week here in the UK which is such a great idea to be able to raise awareness and spread the word.

Did you know that 1 in 6 people are affected by a Mental Health problem? Think about that, think about how many people you know right now that may have coined the term ‘suffering from a Mental Health issue’? That means that if you only have 6 people in your life combined statically at least one of them has anxiety, depression, an eating disorder etc.

Now when you think about that wouldn’t it be great to know how to help them more or even just to be able to support them a little better when they are in need? You can learn a little bit more about that here >>> https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week <<< – this is the organisation that is tuly helping to push things forward and take some of the strain away from those who may be feeling the pressure, that includes people undiagnosed/diagnosed, friends and carers who are affected in lots of different ways.

As some of you may or may not know, after I graduated from University the first time for Makeup & Special Effects I went back and changed my route of study and went into Counselling, Psychology & Neurology so I have always had interest surrounding mental health.

This year I have decided to dedicate my time to www.B-eat.co.uk who helps those people who have struggles with eating as well as the carers who may also need support; they are open 4pm-10pm every day, 365 days of the year and you can find more information on their website.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post, I hope you decide to get on board to start making more effective changes or get the help that you deserve!

Makeup Travel Essentials You Need…

I’m not a massive fan of wearing too much makeup on holiday, especially if I’m somewhere hot. Having said that I do love makeup and I love to have options with me wherever I go, keep reading to see what my favourite makeup products for travel are…

Tip: as usual high end products are at the top & budget buys are below. I will not be paid for anything if you do decide to click the links, I am not affiliated with any of the displayed companies.

BB Cream

Smash box Camera Ready BB Cream – £27.00

For me this BB cream is perfect for holiday, it’s super light weight light provides a light build able coverage that has added il control, perfect for beach days & did I mention it has SPF 35?

La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Cream £10.00

This BB cream is wonderful for travelling as it’s very light in texture, smooth & non greasy.  It contains an SPF of 20 and UVA protection, however it does only come in 2 shades so it can be quite limiting for some.

Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer £7.99

This concealer is great, it’s actually my daily go to but it’s perfect to take away as well. It’s compact with a light formula and it hydrates for up to 24 hours  which is perfect when out exploring and out on the go!

Kiko Concealer £5.50

This concealer comes in 7 different shades, its light weight, smooth to apply & enriched with Vitamin E.

Naked Flushed Palette £25.00

How amazing is this little palette?! It’s sleek and compact perfect for travel and it provides you with your blusher, bronzer and highlighter all in one plus it comes with a decent sized mirror for when you are on the go!

604214921023_nakedflushed_streak.jpgMakeup Revolution Iconic £4.00

Again this cute little palette comes with a blush, bronze and a highlighter which is available in 4 variations.

Bobbi Brown Everything Mascara £44.00

This handy little mascara is perfect for taking away with you, I don’t like taking full tubes of mascara with me as they tend to dry out fast in hot weather. This mascara from Bobbi Brown is great for lengthening the lashes and creating volume.

Smash box Xrated Mascara £5.00

This mascara is extremely long lasting, magnifies the lashes & is smudge free. Perfect for those hot summer days & nights!

Clinique All About Shadow Quad £29.00

I love small quads like this to take away with me as I do like a smokey eye if I head out anywhere in the evening but keep it light and simple during the day. Palettes like this makes it very easy for me to create whichever look I want and gives me a few different colour options so my makeup doesn’t look the same every day.

Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad £6.99

This long wear, crease resist quad is great for travel as it’s silky formula is easy to blend and is guaranteed to last all day!

Cailyn 2 Piece Gel £29.00

Gels that double up as a liner and a brow gel are perfect for travel as they are more compact. One such as this that is of such high quality are great however they are quite limited on shades but there are plenty on the market that can be used as both a liner and brow gel!

Freedom Pro Pomade £5.00

This is a product I have talked about quite often! It’s lovely and the colour pay off is brilliant, it stays in place all day and can be used both brows & liner. It’s also available in 11 different shades so there’s bound to be one that suits your colouring.

Lip Balm

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Lip Protectant Stick £11.29

This lip balm looks beautiful on it’s own as well as under lipstick, personally I choose one of the bright 5 shades so I am able to wear it as a light balm or build it up for a subtle pop of colour! It helps to soften and moisturise the lips with the added benefit of an SPF 15.

Burt’s Bees Tinted Balm £3.99

This product has a whole lot of conditioning, it containing waxes and Shea Butter to nourish and feed the lips. Again is available colourless or in a few eye catching shades that exude subtle hints of colour!

The Body Shop Mini Brush Kit £13.50

This kit includes a blush brush which can also be used to apply bronzer & highlight, a concealer/lip brush, an angled brush that can be used for lips, eyeliner or brows & an eyeshadow brush to be used for it’s purpose or contour.

December’ Favourites

Lets get right into it! Listed below are my favourite items of December…

Loreal Colour Riche Lipstick in 303 – this lipstick has staying power! It keeps my lips hydrated and stays exactly where you apply it plus it comes in many different shades with a good colour pay off.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner  – this precision eyeliner is perfect for those who love a sultry cat eye or a bold wing! It’s my go to eyeliner recently, you can create such a fine and precise point with the applicator plus it’s great for travelling with.

Barry M Glitter Dust – after all it was the season for sparkles & glamour! Almost no fall out with this fine glitter dust, great coverage and no need for a mixing medium =  perfect. Can be used on the eyes, lips, cheeks & body too!

Loreal Magic Retouch  – this is my holy grail! It has been a hair saver for me since dying my hair dark because my roots look sooooo light in comparison, it covers my roots up in less than 30 seconds as it works like a coloured dry shampoo. It comes in 6 different shades to help match with whichever natural shade of hair you have.

Kids Shampoo –  I know that this fave may seem a little weird but it has been amazing for me and I will tell you why! It is the only shampoo I have found that doesn’t strip away my colour too fast, I used to use ginger shampoo from the body shop when I had highlights however now my hair is dark it needs something none abrasive. This mango scented shampoo as done the job perfectly and it smells lovely!

Deep Heat – anyone else get winter aches and pains? My neck is always quite sore but it hits me just how sore in Winter! Although I have been having Acupuncture, medical massage & cupping it can still act up and cause pain so I pop a small amount of this on at night which helps ease the pain & helps me too sleep!

Fairy lights – I always use fairy lights all year round however I had to replace mine in December as a couple of the strings broke. I found these ones on amazon with 8 different settings which is great for creating a range of effects.

Christmas, Lifestyle

I am an avid Disney Fan! Every Christmas I seem to have developed an unspoken tradition that I will have a re-run of all my favourite disney films and whoever is with me will be sucked into watching them with me. Below are my recommendations!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – as the first Disney film to ever be released I expect it lived up to expectations, it’s still a favourite of mine!

Dumbo – I only ever watch this film around Christmas, such a cute film! Definitely a must watch.

Bambi – There are so many characters from this film that I love! I need to find a Christmas jumper with Bambi on this year, he is just adorable!

Cinderella – I’m not a fan of the 2nd/3rd but the original release of this film is perfect, especially around Christmas. I always think that this film has always had a ‘colder’ feel than the others?!

Alice in Wonderland – I love this film and every single remake that has been made since! Probably one of my all time favourites!

One Hundred and One Dalmatians – do I really need to explain this?! I would love any film with that many puppies in!

Mary Poppins – although I do really like this film it is reserved for the Winter seasons only, it just seems wrong to watch it at any other time of the year?

The Jungle Book – Jungle Book is one of my earliest memories as a child, I was completely obsessed and used to make my dad watch it with me all the time! Now it’s become a staple for family time.

Return to Oz – my ULTIMATE boxing day film! It never gets old but again this is another that is reserved for this special time of year, I could never sit down in the middle of summer and get excited about this film.

Beauty and the Beast – this is one of my favourites of all time. It’s my go to film, if I’m tired it goes on, when I’m ill this is the film I turn to – it’s my feel good film and probably one of the reasons I’m slightly addicted to musicals now too!

Let me know if there’s any here you haven’t seen or even if you have some recommendations for me!

Things I Love & Hate About Christmas

Amazing Christmas Decorations!

Christmas is usually a love or hate holiday but for me it almost falls somewhere in the middle, let me tell you why I love & hate christmas!

  • The run up – I love the run up to christmas so much, I like going to christmas markets, different hall events how chilly it gets & twinkle lights etc.

  • Family time – extra family time is a always a bonus.
  • Everything is cosy and magical on christmas day.
  • Wrapping presents – I get so excited when I’m wrapping other peoples presents up. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist and have to make sure everything is pretty & perfect.

  • Seeing others opening there presents, especially if theres puppies involved.

  • I find the actual day quite boring – nothing is open, you can’t go anywhere so are pretty much forced to stay in the house all day or attend a house party with people you only see once a year! No thanks…
  • I despise having to eat at a certain time, when I’m hungry I need to eat right there and then because of this 9/10 I’m full by the time christmas dinner rolls around.

  • Having to stay at your parents house all day whilst your aunties & uncles 4 times removed come around because they have visitation rights on this special day.

Which side of the fence do you sit on? Do you love Christmas day or do you hate it? Let me know in the comments section!
