Hi Guys, thanks for watching my outfit ideas & Look Book for 2019 – next video live on Thursday at 4pm. Keep in touch via social platforms until then & let me know what your fave look was! SUBSCRIBE.
Thanks for joining me for this little chat at a time where it couldn’t be more appropriate! We are in the midst of Mental Health Week here in the UK which is such a great idea to be able to raise awareness and spread the word.
Did you know that 1 in 6 people are affected by a Mental Health problem? Think about that, think about how many people you know right now that may have coined the term ‘suffering from a Mental Health issue’? That means that if you only have 6 people in your life combined statically at least one of them has anxiety, depression, an eating disorder etc.
Now when you think about that wouldn’t it be great to know how to help them more or even just to be able to support them a little better when they are in need? You can learn a little bit more about that here >>> https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week <<< – this is the organisation that is tuly helping to push things forward and take some of the strain away from those who may be feeling the pressure, that includes people undiagnosed/diagnosed, friends and carers who are affected in lots of different ways.
As some of you may or may not know, after I graduated from University the first time for Makeup & Special Effects I went back and changed my route of study and went into Counselling, Psychology & Neurology so I have always had interest surrounding mental health.
This year I have decided to dedicate my time to www.B-eat.co.uk who helps those people who have struggles with eating as well as the carers who may also need support; they are open 4pm-10pm every day, 365 days of the year and you can find more information on their website.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post, I hope you decide to get on board to start making more effective changes or get the help that you deserve!
Sometimes it can be hard to choose which product is best for you when the market is so saturated with different types of lipsticks in different formulas and different shades. After reaching the end of this article I’m hoping that I have helped you to navigate your way around the makeup aisles a little easier!
First let’s talk about texture & finish…
Matte lipsticks are great for staying power, however they can be quite drying to your lips so it’s important to look after them before and after application & wear. They usually contain Kaolin (also known as clay) which is a primary ingredient for it’s staying power as it leaves no shine and no grease on the surface.
Tip: Prep your lips for a matte formula by exfoliating with sugar and honey and buff off with a warm cloth, then saturate your lips in balm or oil and leave to sink in before application.
Long Wearing Lipstick
Long wearing lipsticks are those that claim they have the upmost staying power which can stand the test of time through the kisses, the wine and everyday wear. However that’s usually not the case, personally I would prefer to use a stain as these product can cause dry, chapped & cracked lips which is never a good look!
Thank the lord for the new formulations of stain lipsticks, before this happened they were only known to last for an hour or so before disappearing in to nothing. However all of that has changed in recent years, some of my favourite lip products are actually stains from Benefit (if you haven’t tried them yet, I suggest you do).
A stain type of lipstick may not be for you if you do prefer a full coverage lip colour, however if you like natural/glowy looks then these products would be perfect for you!
These are perfect for those with dry lips as they tend to contain conditioning ingredients such as Shea Butter. They can wear off easy dependant on the pigmentation and exact formula of the product you purchase, Loreal and Rimmel are good drugstore brands to try for this type of product.
Tip: if you purchase a pale colour and are worried about wear time, you can try this little trick. Apply your first coat liberally to your lips and set with a small amount of translucent powder, then apply a this second layer. This will ensure that the product lasts longer without drying your lips.
It’s that time of the month again! I love sharing my favourite products with you, which products I love is a question I get asked a lot & my blog gives me the perfect platform to tell you all what has worked for me. I hope you discover something new here today…
Front Cover Eyeliner
I purchased one of the Front Cover sets at Boots around Christmas and I haven’t had the chance to use it properly until recently. Let me tell you the Kajal & Kohl liners are to die for! They are creamy, smooth and highly pigmented with staying power; what more can you ask for from an eyeliner? I didnt experience any creasing or transference throughout the day either which is always a bonus.
Freedom Eyebrow Pomade
I’ve been looking for a dip brow alternative for quite a while now and I’m so happy that I have finally found it. The brow pomade from Freedom is highly pigmented so you don’t need to use a lot and the texture is relatively waxy which is great for holding the brow hair’s in place. It’s a steal at just £5.00, the pomade comes in 10 different shades so there’s bound to be a shade that suits you.
Elizabeth Arden Day and Night Cream
I can not begin to tell you how much I love this skin care set from Elizabeth Arden, it’s an award winning skin care product. It aids relief from dry/chapped skin and lips, great for rough skin such as that found on the knees/elbows/heals and it provides constant protection for at least 8 hours.
The products are dermatologist, clinically and allergy tested for your safety and reassurance that the product you are buying actually works. The night formula also has a slight essence of Lavender which is prefect for bedtime! Retails for around £40.00 dependant on your geographical location and store.
Planet Spa Sleep Pillow Mist
If you have trouble sleeping then you NEED to purchase this spray. I was skeptical to try it at first because nothing can send me on my way to sleep when insomnia sets in, or so I thought. This spray is a wonderful mis of Lavender and Chamomile but yet it is far from over powering. I spritz this on my pillows when I’m struggling to catch some z’s and within twenty minutes I am fast asleep. I would recommend this product highly and for £4.00 from Avon you won’t feel to hard done by if it doesn’t work for you.
